As part of this years Education Week were were delighted to hold our first annual sports day. Students were assigned to one of four houses and had lots of fun as their teams created chants, designed banners and practiced their cheerleading in preparation for the big day. Then it was off down to the field for a fun day of parades and sports.
Games included regular sprints as well as traditional favorites like the sack race and the lime and spoon race (like egg and spoon but far less messy!)
The four houses were named after people central in founding and running Holy Cross School:
- Green House – Babb’s House, Named for Carol Babb, General Manager of the Anglican Schools at the time of founding.
- Blue House – Wilson’s House, named for Francis & Vernon Wilson, founders of the school.
- Red House – William’s House, named for Grace Williams, Principal of the school.
- Purple House – Ostenso’s House, named for Brian Ostenso, Chairman of the Holy Cross Education Foundation Board.
It was a close and fun competition, but WILSONS’S HOUSE were the winners on the day. Can’t wait for the rematch.
